Team picked for Site C civils work

BC Hydro has picked a partnership of four companies as its preferred proponent for the generating station and spillways civil works at the CA$10.7bn Site C dam project.

The announcement follows a decision taken by the British Columbia government in December 2017 to complete the troubled hydroelectric project (link opens in new tab).

The AFDE Partnership includes Aecon Constructors, Flatiron Constructors Canada, Dragados Canada, and EBC.

The contract is the second-largest single contract that will be issued for the construction of the Site C project. It includes the delivery of civil works associated with the powerhouse, penstocks, spillways and power intakes for the Site C dam.

The formal award is expected to take place early this year, with mobilization to site anticipated in spring.

The proposal by AFDE Partnership is within the revised cost estimate established by BC Hydro of CA$10.7bn for the full project, and this contract value is included in the BC Hydro estimate.
