EllisDon lands Toronto hospital

EllisDon has won a CA$411m contract for redevelopment of Michael Garron Hospital in Toronto.

The fixed-price contract awarded to EllisDon Infrastructure MGH by Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and Michael Garron Hospital (MGH) covers the design, construction and financing of project, which includes a new patient care tower.

The winning team is made up of EllisDon Capital, EllisDon Design Build, B&H Architects, Diamond Schmitt Architects, Mulvey & Banani International, Crossey Engineering, Stephenson Engineering and WalterFedy.

The shortlist had been announced in August 2017 (link opens in new tab).

The project involves renovations within the existing hospital and new construction of an eight-story patient care tower with a three-story podium connecting to the existing hospital. Some demolition of existing space in involved. The scope of work includes approximately 550,000 square feet of new space and 100,000 square feet of renovations.

Substantial completion is due in September 2023.
