Team picked for P3 wastewater project

A consortium of Maple Reinders, Bird and Synagro Technologies is the preferred proponent for a residuals treatment facility in Ontario.

Hartland Resource Management Group (HRMG) will deliver the project under a design-build-finance-operate-maintain (DBFOM) public-private partnership (P3) model. The operate and maintain period will last 20 years.

The Capital Regional District (CRD) Residuals Treatment Facility is designed to incorporate the latest and most reliable processes for stabilizing and drying biosolids.

The facility will treat residual solids from the McLoughlin Point Wastewater Treatment Plant and turn them into Class A biosolids, a by-product suitable for beneficial reuse, including as a source of renewable energy.

The Residuals Treatment Facility is part of a larger CRD’s wastewater treatment project, being built to meet both the federal and provincial governments’ 31 December 2020 requirement for secondary wastewater treatment.

HRMG plans to start construction in the spring of 2018, with the project slated for completion at the end of 2020.
