Saskatoon company fined over lack of safety gear

A Saskatoon company has been fined after workers were seen working without on site without the necessary safety gear.

Kamineski Deptuck Holdings Ltd has pleaded guilty to contravening regulations governing the need to ensure that workers wear approved protective headwear and that they use a fall protection system where they might fall 3m or more.

The company was fined CA$500 plus a CA$200 surcharge on each count, for total fines of CA$1,400.

The charges had been laid after workers were observed not using fall or personal protective equipment during an inspection by an occupational health officer in June 2016.  No incident occurred, and luckily no one was injured, said WorkSafe Saskatchewan.
